Doing business with friends, the uugly.
I'm going to tell you that this only ends in two ways. It's either you create a longtime friendship or have someone loose trust in you. It's a very thin line to cross which is the same as doing business with family. Now although I've highlighted the negative aspect of doing business with your friends, it's save to say that there are many successful friends running businesses together in so many different fields. The secret question to ask yourself though is; how do we all win? and with this in mind, there is only so much room for you to be selfish.
I would say somewhere I've made a mistake in this is with a friend of mine that I thought to be very talented, so I genuinely offered myself as a resource to help push his work. This started off well but then I began to over extend my help to others around and this did not sit right with him, which is fair, but it was not my intent to step over a line we had not spoke about before.
The new shift in our friendship affected the business side and I strongly feel that anyone who may be involved in this should speak up whenever things goes sideways. Now this doesn't have to be the case as everyone deal with things in their way but it's the best way to go about it. Fast forward a year later, and I believe that the friendship has gotten better but it's safe to say that things will never be the same.
